The Acropolis Museum is considered one of the best museums in the world. With its unique exhibits, which come exclusively from the Acropolis area, it attracts around 2 million visitors every year. It is located 300 meters opposite the archaeological site of the Acropolis.

The new Acropolis Museum and its collectionsThe new Acropolis Museum opened its doors in summer 2009. It is located in a historic district of Athens, just 300 meters south of the Acropolis Rock, and presents its unique finds in over 14,000 m² of exhibition space. The museum is built on an excavation and visitors can observe the progress of the work through the transparent glass floor. And you might even be there live when a new piece is discovered for the collection!

After crossing the lobby on the second floor, visitors are greeted with the impressive finds from the slopes of the Acropolis. The Gallery of the Slopes takes its name not only from the origin of the exhibits, but also from the gently sloping floor, which alludes to the ascent to the Acropolis Hill.

On the second floor, you can admire magnificent sculptures from the first temples built in the archaic period and votive offerings made by the faithful to the gods in natural light. The second level of the museum is a great place to take a break. Here you can relax on the veranda, eat in the restaurant or choose from the wide selection of gifts in the museum store.
