Casa Vicens is Gaudís first commissional work. It was built between 1883 and 1885 and is one of the first Modernism masterpieces. Originally the Casa Vicens was commissioned by Manuel Vicens i Montaner and used as a summer residence including a beautiful garden for the family. One of the highlights while visiting this work of art is the rich ornamentation as well as geometric shapes of the house from the outside and in every room, which makes the masterpiece stand out from all the buildings surrounding the Casa Vicens. Due to the missing curved shaping it is visible that the Casa Vicens is one of Gaudís early works. In 2005 the building was declared a UNESCO world heritage site. After three years of restorations, in 2017 the doors were opened to the public for the first time.
