Plaça del Rei is the headquarters of the museum. The entrance is located at Casa Padellàs, a palace from the 15th / 16th c. Century, an example of bourgeois architecture. History and information – Plaça del Rei

The historical museum in Barcelona is built in contrast to a normal museum after another scheme. It consists of several exhibition venues distributed throughout the city. Referring to the history of Barcelona, ​​the exhibits are housed in historical places. With a heterogeneous collection of 35,200 objects, the museum shows the past and present of Barcelona. In addition, about 4,000-5,000 new exhibits from legacies or donations and various archaeological finds discovered during construction work are added to the site every year. 

Elements of the complex museum are the Royal Palace (PalacioReal), the Roman Temple (Temple d'August), the former Roman street (Via Sepulcral), the Roman granary (Domus de Sant Honorat), the Information Center (El Call), the old one Market Square (Santa Caterina), the Monastery of the Order of the Clares (Monestir de Pedralbes), the farm (Villa Joana), designed by Gaudi (Park Güell) and the escape tunnel (Refugi 307).

The entire site bears witness to more than 2,000 years of history and is one of the largest historical legacies of European settlement. With its permanent exhibition, the partly underground Museu d'Historia de Barcelona offers a look back to the time of 100 BC. C. until the 13th century after Christ to the Barcelona of the late Middle Ages.
