The Picture Gallery in the Culture Forum at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, is a part of the Berlin State Museums. Here you will find collections of some of the most important European paintings from the 13th-18th century in the world. Some highlights of this gallery include Dürer’s “Madonna with the Siskin,” Caravaggio’s “Amor Vincit Omnia,” and Ruben’s “Perseus frees Andromeda.” An entire hall is dedicated to showcasing 16 of Rembrandt’s master pieces. The collection is one of the largest and most high quality collection of its type. Description Gemäldegalerie

In the museum’s chic and stylish building, the showrooms have housed 7,000 m2 worth of pictures since 1998. These pieces are ordered chronologically by periods, artistic landscapes, and schools into 72 halls and cabinets. You can re-experience these collections after visiting the gallery’s large foyer and its impressive water fountain. With a round tour spanning about 2 km long, you can peruse through master works from the 13th to 18th century.
The exhibition will be further expanded by a studio gallery with about 400 pictures. For more information about the exhibits, visitors can read the Collection Catalogue, or use computer stations at the gallery to peruse through collections digitally. In addition to this, tours are available in German and English. The inventory of pictures in the Picture Gallery is vastly more than what has been just described here. Amongst the 3000 pictures, pictures from all art history eras can be found—works include pieces by Rubens, Bruegel, Giotto, Tizian, Rembrandt, van Eyck, and many more.
A special focus areas of these artists include German and Italian art from the 13th to 16th century, various portraits, genre pictures, interior designs, landscapes, and still lifes—all of which are testaments to the diversity of specializations of art forms of these artists.
