Palazzo Strozzi Streetview at Palazzo Strozzi Exhibition announcement at Palazzo Strozzi.

The Renaissance Palace has served as a gallery and exhibition space since 2006. It regularly hosts exhibitions of Italian and international art. The spectrum ranges from works by old masters to classical modernism and contemporary artists such as Marina Abramovic, Ai Weiwei and Jeff Koons. From 22 March to 21 July 2024, a show of works by Anselm Kiefer will be on display, followed by Helen Frankenthaler from the end of September.

The Palazzo Strozzi offers changing exhibitions of modern art in a unique historical setting.

Experience great art and fantastic Renaissance architecture.

An exhibition by Anselm Kiefer has been announced for summer 2024, followed by Helen Frankenthaler in autumn.

Renowned for his impactful works that explore themes of memory, myth, war, and existence through painting, sculpture, and installation, Kiefer presents historical works and new productions at Palazzo Strozzi, engaging in a unique dialogue with the Renaissance architecture.

The building: Palazzo Strozzi, Renaissance masterpiece

Palazzo Strozzi is located between Piazza Strozzi and Via Tornabuoni in the centre of Florence and is one of the finest examples of Florentine early Renaissance residential architecture. Since the Second World War, the palace has been Florence’s largest temporary exhibition space.

The Foundation

Established in July 2006, the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation marks a significant step in the way cultural institutions have been run in Italy. It is an independent public-private foundation governed by an independent Board of Directors appointed by its founding members. The challenge for the Foundation from the outset has been to bring international exhibitions and high quality cultural events to Florence and Tuscany and to "give the palace back to the city and the region".

The exhibitions

In the Piano Nobile and in the Strozzina area, the Foundation organises art exhibitions ranging from ancient art to Renaissance, modern and contemporary art. The foundation also offers a permanent exhibition on the history of Palazzo Strozzi, a café and a museum shop on the ground floor, which leads onto the Renaissance courtyard of the palace, where it organises concerts, performance art, contemporary art installations, theatre performances and much more. The programmes and accompanying events for each exhibition round off the offer.

  • Renowned exhibition venue for contemporary artists
  • The Palazzo Strozzi perfectly epitomises the aristocratic palazzi of the Renaissance
  • Also new for the architecture of the period are the colonnaded courtyards that form the centrepiece of these buildings
  • Interesting permanent exhibition about the building
