The museum is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence, about one minute from the Piazza del Duomo and the Galleria dell'Accademia. From the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station, it is approximately a ten minute walk. By bus, take the C2 to via Panzani and get off at the "Duomo" stop on via Roma. Continue on foot for about six minutes, crossing the Duomo square, to Via dei Servi.
Please note that the Leonardo Interactive Museum® is closed on 24 and 25 December.
An audio guide can be rented at the reception for 1 Euro and is available in 5 different languages (German, Italian, French, Spanish and Russian).
Inside the museum there are explanatory information boards in 5 different languages (in some cases only in English and Italian).
The exhibition which is opened since 2003 is the result of years of study and research, aimed to illuminating the thoughts of the genius Leonardo da Vinci.
The museum offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in a timeless and welcoming atmosphere to discover Leonardo and his more than 50 inventions, which come from his codes.
The visitor participates in an original, interactive and multimedia experience. The focus lies on the figure "da Vincis" as a Renaissance engineer and his mathematical-mechanical view of the world. Visitors can experience the inventions, try them out and keep da Vinci's extraordinary past alive. The museum also offers an view into his anatomical studies and the opportunity to experiment with the principles of physics and mechanics.
Finally, you can look at the illuminated reproductions of his most important paintings, which are shown in original size and high resolution. The visit is rounded off by a workshop area. This allows visitors to design da Vinci's bridge and dome constructions and assemble the most fascinating Platonic bodies.
