The "Museo degli Strumenti Musicali" (Museum for Musical Instruments) is located wihtin the famous Accademia Gallery. The museum of instruments consists of round about 50 musical instruments out of the private collection of the Grand Dukes of the Tuscany, the Medici and the Lorraine. The instruments originally made during the second half of the 17th century and the first half of the 19th century. Today the exhibited pieces are in possession of the Cherubini conservatoire. The collection symbolizes the leading role of the music in the court yard of the Medici.

The last entrance into the museum is at 6.40pm and the ticket counter closes 20 minutes earlier at 6.20pm.
The museum is opened daily except from Mondays. Since the museum has long opening hours it is possible for every visitor to take a look at the museum.
