The Accademia Gallery is a museum in Florenz, located in Ricasoli. It is one of the most visited museums in Italy. Since the museum has 7 statues of Michelangelo, including the famous David statue, the museum is a popular place to go. Another highlight is the world’s biggest collection of paintings with a golden background .
The David statue: This statue symbolizes the ideal of male beauty. The statue is said to be the most beautiful work that was created by a human being.
In 1501 Michelangelo was hired to create a statue for the workers of the cathedral of Florence. When he finished the project, famous artist like Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, Filippino Lippi and Perugino decided to put the sculptors at the entrance of the Palazzo Vecchio. They were a symbol for strength and independence of the Florentine. Three years later the statue was published and caused pure enthusiasm.
