The Alter Elbtunnel is a part of the history of Hamburg and is a Must-See for every person who visits Hamburg. This 426.5-meter-long tunnel had its start of construction in July 1907, and was finished in 1911 under the name “St. Pauli Elbtunnel” (it’s former name at that time). Since 2003, the tunnel has been declared a protected monument. The tunnel frequently serves as a film set, and there is also an opportunity to see the tunnel 24 m deep into the ground, which you can conveniently reach using an elevator.
