Description Elbe Philarmonic Hall

The impressive Elbe Philarmonic Hall is 110 meters high with the glass structure portraying a wave. It was designed by the renowned Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron. After a 10-year construction phase the new landmark opened in January 2017. The Elbe Philarmonic Hall is a unique blend of hall with two concert halls, hotel and 45 luxury apartments as well as the Plaza with a 360 ° panoramic over the city. The Elbe Philarmonic Hall was constructed on about 1700 reinforced concrete piles on the grounds of what used to be Hamburg's largest ware house ("Kaispeicher A") during the 1990s.The longest curved escalator in the world with 82 meters is located directly in the entrance of the concert hall. Today the Kaispeicher is used as a car park with approximately 510 parking spaces furthermore it also contains wellness and conference rooms as well as a studios for performances. With a size of about 4000 m² the Plaza is almost as big as the Rathausmarkt (Hamburg Town Hall market place). The two large concert halls offer a total of 2700 seats for music enthusiasts.
