The Es Balaurd is the largest museum in Mallorca and is also an important museum for modern and contemporary art, where more than 500 art work from famous artists await. This museum was established at the Passeig Maritin of Palma and still captivates visitors with its unique Catalan architecture. In the Catalonian language, “baluard” means bulwark or “fortress”, which is a reference to the museum’s location and the historical function of the city wall that used to be located there.

The entrance fee for the Es Baluard in Palma is generally 6 €. Students, senior citizens (over 65 years ), pensioners, holders of the youth card (Carnet Joven) and members of cultural and educational associations are entitled to a reduced admission price of 4 €. In order to receive the reduction on the admission price, proof of identity must be provided, e.g. for students the student card or for visitors over 65 the identity card. Children up to and including 12 years do not pay admission. Friday is museum day at Es Baluard and a donation will replace the entrance fee. At least 10 cents must be paid.
