The Bavarian National Museum is located directly at the English Garden. It is one of the largest museums in Germany and appeals to almost every art lover with the diversity of its collections. The original building, built in 1900, houses masterpieces of European art from the early Middle Ages to Art Nouveau, including sculptures, paintings, goldsmithing, ivory carvings, porcelain, costumes, furniture, weapons and more. The nativity scene collection with figures from the 18th and 19th century is world famous. The museum tells European cultural history in Bavaria in a unique way.
