"Typical Munich" is the name of the permanent exhibition of the museum, which illustrates the history of the city on the basis of selected objects. You have the opportunity to follow the question what, since when and especially why something is typical for Munich in five historically structured periods of time. In addition, there are permanent exhibitions on music, puppet theater and showjumping, on National Socialism in Munich as well as collections and special exhibitions on fashion, graphics, photography and film.
Worth seeing are also the partially centuries-old buildings that house the city museum, such as the former armory of the city from the year 1500 or the gothic Ignaz Günther House from the late Middle Ages.
