Unlimited travel on public transport with the Naples City Pass

Naples, the picturesque city in the south of Italy, offers its residents and visitors a well-developed network of public transportation that makes it easy to explore the city and its surroundings. Here is an informative overview of the different means of transportation, their operating hours and their range.

What you can use with your Public transport City Pass Ticket

Metro (Metropolitana)

The Naples metro is one of the most efficient ways to get around the city. It consists of two lines: Line 1 (red) and Line 2 (blue). The subway runs daily from about 6:00 am to midnight. Note, however, that operating hours may change slightly on weekends and holidays.

Buses

Naples has an extensive bus network that covers almost all parts of the city. Buses are a convenient option for getting to places not directly served by the subway. Bus operating hours vary by line, but are usually between 5:30 am and 11:00 pm.

Tramways (Tram)

The Tram in Naples is another way to get around within the city. However, they are limited to certain routes and are less common than buses and subways. Hours of operation are similar to buses and vary by line.

Funicolare (funiculars)

Naples is known for its funicolare, the funicular railroads that connect hilltop neighborhoods to the city center. They provide not only efficient transportation, but also breathtaking views of the city. Hours of operation vary by route, but usually start early in the morning and end late in the evening.

Regional train services (not included):

Public transportation in Naples also provides connections to many places outside the city.To reach Pompeii or Herculaneum (Ercolano), which are located at some distance from Naples, you will need to buy a separate ticket. The best way is taking a train towards Salerno. For this purpose, the company Trenitalia is responsible, which offers favorable fares to travelers. Naples' main train station, Napoli Centrale, is an important transportation hub for regional and interregional travel.

How to get from the Airport to the City Center of Naples

  • To get from Naples Airport (officially known as Naples International Airport, or Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino) to the city center of Naples, you have several transportation options:
  • Taxi: Taking a taxi is one of the most convenient options. You can find taxi stands outside the airport terminals. Make sure the taxi meter is on, and the fare should be fixed according to the destination within the city center.
  • Airport Shuttle: There are shuttle bus services that connect the airport to various points in Naples, including the city center. The "Alibus" is a dedicated shuttle service that runs between the airport and the city center. It typically departs every 30 minutes and stops at several key locations in Naples, including Piazza Garibaldi (the main train station) and the Port.
  • Public Bus: You can also take public buses to reach the city center. The ANM (Azienda Napoletana Mobilità) bus line 3S connects the airport to the central train station, Piazza Garibaldi. The bus schedule can vary, so it's a good idea to check in advance.
  • Private Transfer: You can book a private transfer service in advance, which can be a more comfortable and convenient option, especially if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with a group. Many companies offer this service online.
  • Metro: While the Naples Metro doesn't yet directly connect to the airport, you can take a bus or taxi from the airport to the nearest metro station, such as Garibaldi Station, and then continue your journey within the city using the metro.
