The Museum of Modern Art’s headquarter is situated in Midtown Manhattan which is directly in the centre of the city.
The Museum, which is also known as “MoMA” was founded in 1929. In the beginning it received a donation containing eight artworks. Over the past years the collection has grown from eight artworks to a number of more than 150,000 pieces of different types of art. Today the museum is also very well-known all over the world and welcomes millions of visitors every year.
The collection not only holds paintings but also sculptures, drawings, photographs, architectural models to only name a few examples. The Museum among others also houses famous pieces like “Gold Marilyn Monroe” by Andy Warhol, “The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh as well as artworks created by Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Jacob Lawrence and other established artist of our time.
