The "Musée national du Moyen Äge" is sometimes one of the most important sightseeings of all Paris. The national museum of medieval art is one of the finest collections of art in Europe. It is dedicated to art, everyday life and the social and religious history of the Middle Ages in France. The museum can be found in today's "Hôtel de Cluny", a villa in the Gothic architectural style. The museum opened its doors in 1844 after reconstruction measures.
The reason for this foundation was the resident of the hotel Alexandre Du Sommerard, who was a passionate art collector and archaeologist. In a breathtaking square of characteristic importance are the Gallo-Roman Baths of Lutéce, late 1st century, and the Town House of the Abbots of Cluny, late 15th century. A medieval garden was also created in 2000, which radiates the flair of the Middle Ages even on warm summer days under the open sky. Be curious, numerous famous works of art will accompany you on your journey through this historic place.
The museum is closed for renovations until spring 2022.
