Since 1986, the Hôtel de Saint-Aignan has been home to the Musée d'art et d'histoire du Judaïsme. The former mayor of Paris Jacques Chirac, saw the villa as a good setting to dedicate a museum to Jewish culture. Jewish art and history in particular are at the heart of the exhibition.
The museum traces the develoment of the Jewish community through history, looks at its cultural heritage and traditions and illustrates the role of Jews in history of art in Europe and North Africa from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Visitors to the Jewish Museum can mainly admire works of art from distant exhibitions.
In the context of interesting loans from other museums or even donations of art objects, the museum is lively.
