The Musée national de l'Orangerie, located in the heart of Paris at the western end of the Jardin des Tuileries, is an important art museum that is known above all for its impressive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works. The building itself, a former orangery, was built in 1852 and originally served as a conservatory for orange trees. In 1927, it was converted into a museum to exhibit the monumental water lily paintings (Nymphéas) by Claude Monet, which were created especially for this location. These large-format works are housed in two oval rooms and give visitors the feeling of being surrounded by Monet's water lily ponds.

In addition to the famous water lily paintings, the Musée de l'Orangerie also houses the renowned collection of Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume.
