In the "Cité de la céramique" is a national, French ceramics museum in an idyllic suburb of Paris. A different kind of ceramics - With models from various cities around the world, the museum has a splendid collection of versatile ceramics. Historical perdiods can thus be read in the pieces and form an illustrative review of the past. As a museum, the City of Ceramics is the first centre for the Keramikkonst. Also urgently needed, it was the first fired art of mankind. The collection and inventory consists mainly of pieces that can be presented there through a merger with the "Musée national de la Céramique". A total of 50.000 objects of this collection and also those of the State Porcelain Manufactory of Louis XV, now decorate the big rooms of the museum.
The museum not only offers a glimpse into the past - about 100 ceramists are currently actively working in 27 workshops. These can be visited by appointment. Visitors can thus be convinced of the traditional know-how of the professionals. Temporary exhibitions of the museum always bring the present into the museum and thus show, for example, works of contemporary art. Cooperation with foreign institutions, such as a Russian school around 1900, is indispensable. Admire ceramics from all over the world and witness historical periods immortalised in past and present art.
