You've only seen palaces in movies? Then the Musée Nissim de Camondo is your chance to visit a private mansion. The State museum opened the doors in 1936 in the "Hôtel Camondo" in Paris. Dark wooden furniture, contemporary art objects and paintings by famous artists, tapestries, porcelain and silver cutlery take visitor back in time. What is unique about this is that the entire museum is still in its original state.
Nissim de Camondo, founder of the museum, passionate collected furniture and works of art during his lifetime in the 18th century. He consequently distributed in his own palace, which had been abandoned for decoration. In 1911 the house was finished and lovingly designed as a home with the collector's items. One year after the death of the museum founder Moϊse de Camondo as a fighter pilot in 1935, the museum was named and officially opened according to his last will after his son.
