The museum is named after Giovanni Barrocco who was a famous Italian politician and a collector of ancient art. At the beginning he bought his sculptures on ancient flea markets and was soon owner of more than 400 artifacts. Nowadays the collection includes sculptures from Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, the Roman Empire and many other countries. The exhibition offers not only figures from 3000 BC but also exhibits from the Middle Ages. Nine halls offer the possibility to discover the ancient world und many former cultures.
