In the 17th century at the Royal Observatory Greenwich great scientists precisely mapped the stars to help navigate the seas. In 1884 the Greenwich Meridian was chosen as the Prime Meridian of the world. Here it is possible to stand astride the Maridian Line with one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one in the west.
