This church first opened in 1546 and is home to painting cycles, numerous paintings that depict the Old Testament, frescos, and an alter painting—all of which were made by Veronese. Naturally, Veronese’s grave is also housed here.

A particular highlight in the Chiesa di San Sebastiano is the painting "The Martyrdom of Saint Lucy" by Paolo Veronese, an outstanding example of 16th-century Venetian painting.

Monday to Saturday: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Last admission is at 4:15 PM.

Please note that the Chiesa di San Sebastiano is closed every Sunday, on January 1st, Easter, August 15th, and December 25th.      

 

Reservation

No reservation of your ticket is necessary. Just present your Venice City Pass and enjoy free admission.

 

Restrictions

  • Modest attire with covered shoulders and knees is expected in the Chiesa di San Sebastiano. Sleeveless tops, shorts, mini skirts, and hats are not allowed.

 

 

How to get there

The nearest ferry stop to the Chiesa di San Sebastiano is S. Basilio, which can be reached via ferry lines 2, 5.1, 5.2, and 8.

Near the Chiesa di San Sebastiano, you'll also find the picturesque Giudecca Canal, the beautiful Palazzo Ca' Zenobio, and the church of Santa Maria dei Carmini.
