The National Museum of Archaeology in Venice opened its doors in the 16th century, making it the oldest museum of the city. Here you can peruse through ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, which were mostly donated from private collections of Venetian aristocrats. Showcased artwork in this museum includes bronze statues, ceramics, precious stones, and coins. Due to the generosity of the Correr Museum, Egyptian mummies can also be viewed in the National Museum of Archaeology.
