The Scala Contarini del Bovolo is attached to the Gothic palace “Plazzo Contarini del Bovolo” and draws all the attention due to its uniquely constructed spiral staircase. The building was commissioned by the former host of the palace, Pietro Contarini, in the 15th century to the architect Giovanni in order to create the most remarkable object of that time. The outline of the staircase reminds of a snail shell and the ascent of the multi-arch spiral staircase will be rewarded with a breathtaking view over Venice. More highlights can been seen on the 2nd floor, in the Sala del Tintoretto, an art gallery that presents a unique insight into the life of the Venice patrician.
