Museu d`Art Contemporani de Barcelona MACBA

The Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, or MACBA for short, is one of the most important museums for contemporary art in Spain. The museum is located in the heart of the El Raval district and is known for its impressive collection of modern and contemporary artworks as well as its avant-garde architecture.

The building, designed by the renowned American architect Richard Meier, opened its doors in 1995 and is characterised by its clear, minimalist design language and generous use of light.

The MACBA collection comprises over 5,000 works documenting the development of contemporary art from the middle of the 20th century to the present day. The collection focuses on art movements such as Informalism, Pop Art, Conceptual Art and Minimalism. Works by international and Spanish artists such as Antoni Tàpies, Jorge Oteiza, Paul Klee and Francesc Torres can be found here.

Another highlight of the MACBA is the Plaza dels Àngels, the square in front of the museum, which has become a popular meeting place for skaters and young people.
