What awaits you on site

The Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich: A centre for modern art

The Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich is one of the most famous museums for modern and contemporary art in Germany. Here you can discover paintings from Picasso to Warhol and Le Corbusier.

Opened in 2002, the museum brings together four important collections: the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, the Neue Sammlung, the Museum of Architecture and the modern art collection of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen.

Fascinating exhibitions await you, showcasing a variety of 20th and 21st century artworks, including painting, sculpture, design, graphics and architecture. The museum architecture itself is impressive and was designed by the renowned architect Stephan Braunfels. The spacious, light-flooded rooms and the 25 metre high glass dome - the rotunda - offer ideal conditions for enjoying the exhibits.
