The State Coin Collection of Munich was founded in 1550 by Duke Albrecht V and now houses more than 3,000 objects, the oldest of which date from the third millennium BC. In addition to coins, the issued objects include securities, medals, banknotes and cut stones. In addition to the permanent exhibition, a museum supplements the residence with special exhibitions on various topics.
