Palazzo Merulana

The Palazzo Merulana in Rome is home to an impressive collection of artworks that predominantly represent the Roman School and the Italian 20th century, but also includes contemporary art. The exhibition extends over 1,800 square metres and is spread over four floors.

Ground floor: The ground floor welcomes visitors with a spacious entrance, which in the original structure served as the vestibule of the public health department. Here there is a sculpture room with works by Antonietta Raphael, Lucio Fontana, Pericle Fazzini and Giuseppe Penone. There is also a bookshop and a café where you can take a relaxing break. The neighbouring urban garden offers a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Via Merulana.

Second floor: This area is the centrepiece of Elena and Claudio Cerasi's collection. The permanent exhibition includes works by important artists such as Giorgio de Chirico, Giacomo Balla, Antonio Donghi and Mario Mafai.

Third floor: A gallery is located here, which is used for temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and to enhance the Cerasi collection.

Fourth floor: The top floor is used for cultural activities and events such as conferences and projections. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the rooftops and domes of Rome.
