One of the best things about a Hamburg City
Pass is just how easy it is! It has been designed to save you time and money
by taking the stress out of
sightseeing, so you won’t have to stand in line to pay for individual admission fees to top attractions and tours in Hamburg – they are already included in the price of the package. Here are some of the things you can enjoy with a Hamburg City Pass, to create your own itinerary.
For the best views of Hamburg, you can’t miss an opportunity to climb up St. Michaelis Tower (also called Michel by locals) for a panoramic view at 106m high, overlooking the city, harbor, the Kiez and Alster Lake. It’s one of Hamburg’s most historic landmarks and one of the city’s top attractions, so if you want to learn more about the heritage of this church, you can download the free MichelApp, too. If the 453 steps up sound like a challenge – don’t worry, there’s an elevator! Hamburg is also famous for its harbor and you can learn about the lives of the old merchants and sailors who used to work in this busy port at many of the city’s museums, including the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte, the Ware House District Museum (Speicherstadtmuseum), the International Maritime Museum (Internationales Maritimes Museum), and the ship museum in the Rickmer Rickmers in the Port of Hamburg. A great way to get real, first-hand experience of the city is on one of the many tours included in your Hamburg City Pass. A popular way to explore the city is by Hop on Hop off Bus where you’ll be driven around the famous sights and Hamburg attractions, or you can take to the water with a free Harbor Boat Cruise to enjoy the landmarks from a different perspective. Visit the Elbphilharmonic, Hamburg's most expensive landmark. Receive your ticket to go directly to the Plaza at the visitor centre. On the plaza you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the harbor and Hafencity of Hamburg. The Alster Lake is another of Hamburg’s most iconic and picturesque areas where you can enjoy a free round-trip boat ride (due to technical errors, currently no cruise available at the moment) around the Inner Alster Lake (Binnenalster) and the Outer Alster Lake (Außenalster) to take in the sights from the comfort of your seat. The City Pass also includes a 2-hour guided tour around the Kiez where you can get a real feel for this famous Hamburg district and listen to stories of the raucous red-light district while enjoying a fantastic view of the Reeperbahn – with a free drink in your hand – from a loft bar. If you have kids, take them to meet their idols and visit the life-like wax figures of famous celebrities in the Panoptikum Wax Museum (Wachsfigurenkabinett Panoptikum). For those into their history, Hamburg has a handful of great museums, such as the Museum of Labor (Museum der Arbeit), the internationally renowned Ethnological Museum Hamburg - Cultures and Nations of the World (Völkerkundemuseum), the Art & Culture Museum (Altonaer Museum), and the Jenisch Haus, located in a beautiful villa in the Elbe Parc – all completely free with your Hamburg City Pass!
There’s no limit to how many attractions you visit, you can see them all and enjoy every tour included in the Hamburg City Pass. The Hamburg City Pass with public transport also includes a free Hamburg Travelcard to get from A to B with ease on the public transport network (HVV), including all trains (both the S & U-Bahn lines), buses, and boats, as well as transport to and from the airport!
