The new, modern part of Hamburg is the HafenCity Hamburg. It is located in Hamburg Mitte and is therefore directly on the Elbe. The construction of the Old Elbe Tunnel, which can also be visited, made the planning for HafenCity Hamburg in the Osthafen possible. With the included local transport ticket of the Hamburg City Pass you can get to HafenCity Hamburg and many other top sights in Hamburg easily and free of charge.

Hamburg’s HafenCity is the largest construction complex and inner-city development project in Europe. Here you’ll find a lively city filled with (predominantly) new buildings that have a maritime flair. A view point was built in the HafenCity, which stands 13 meters high and will offers a beautiful view of the HafenCity and its changes. Besides that main attraction in HafenCity, the Elbe Philharmonic Hall, there are also many different parks in this district of Hamburg, as well as a 10.5 km long promenade. Currently, all the renovations and construction in HafenCity are expected to be completely finished in 2025.
