The three islands, Murano, Burano and Torcello, are the most famous islands of Venice—and they all have something to offer. The island tour starts in Venice and has its first stop at Murano. This island is famous for its handmade glass—for this reason, you can visit a glassblowing workshop. The tour goes on to Burano, which will warmly welcome you with the vibrant colors of its fisheries. Here you can also admire their famous bobbin lacework. The tour’s last stop is Torcello, which is home to ancient St. Maria Assunta Cathedral and the St. Forsa Church (created in the 11th & 12th century) – both of which are definitely worth a visit.

Experience a guided half-day tour with unforgettable moments

Explore the largest islands of the Venetian lagoon

Explore the Venetian lagoon on an island tour and discover the special sights of the individual islands, from famous glass-blowing art to colourful houses and Byzantine cathedrals.

Murano and Burano are probably the most famous and certainly the most beautiful islands in the Venetian lagoon.

About the tour

Starting on Murano island, a tour guide will take over and show you the island on foot, aiming the direction towards a traditional glass manufacture.

While exploring also Burano and Torcello by foot, you also have the chance to take a break and recover before the tour slowly reaches the end.

Explore Murano

Starting on Murano island, a tour guide will take over and show you the island on foot, aiming the direction towards a traditional glass manufacture. Murano is not actually an island at all, but a group of seven islands separated by canals and connected by eleven bridges.

Nevertheless, it is usually referred to as the island of Murano. Around five thousand people live here and earn their living from tourism, of course, but also from artistic glass blowing - or fishing.

Experience Burano

The island of Burano is located around 1 hour north-east of the historic city centre of Venice and is one of the most densely populated islands in the Venetian lagoon with over 2700 inhabitants. Here too, it is actually a group of four islands separated by wide canals, but also connected by eight bridges. Burano is famous for its brightly coloured houses. Lace embroidery also had a long tradition on Burano, and the artistic reticella technique once made the island rich.

Visit Torcello

The tiny island of Torcello has only a few inhabitants, but is often visited by many tourists in summer. Its main sights are the Basilica of Saint Maria Assunta, which features Venetian-Byzantine mosaics and a view of the neighbouring island of Burano from the bell tower, as well as the pillarless Ponte del Diavolo bridge and the stone throne seat Trono di Attila.
