You can use the local transport for free in Munich as a Munich City Pass/Munich Card Holder. Ride the U-train, bus, tram, S-train, and even regional trains as much as you want. With the Munich City Pass/Munich Card, you can ride all these forms of transportation by the MVV within selected areas of Munich for the period of time you have booked your Pass/Card. No need to buy any tickets—simply get on and off you go!
Inner area and entire area
With the MVV Ticket, you can use Munich’s local transport for free. Please note only the print version is valid. This tickets allows you to use all buses, trains, and trams operated by the MVV at no additional cost. When booking the Munich Card, you have the opportunity to choose whether your MVV ticket will cover travel the entire public transport network or only within the inner area. Munichs inner area means you can use zone M. When booking usage of the entire MVV network (zones M, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), the transfer to and from the airport is also included.
The MVV network comprises of 7 zones. The inner area is zone M. It includes for example the SEA LIFE Munich, the Nymphenburg Palace with its Botanical Garden, the Deutsche Museum and the Lenbachhaus.
The entire area includes all zones (M, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), including the inner area and those outside of Munich city limits. Using this ticket you can get to the airport, to Herrsching next to the Ammersee and to Tutzing next to the Starnberger See. Within the entire area is also the THERME ERDING, the Neues Schloss Schleißheim and the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleißheim.
To reach the cities Nuremberg, Regensburg and Salzburg as well as the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Herrenchiemsee Castle, we cooperate with Radius tours as a discount partner, because these destinations are not within the MVV area. This partner offers guided tours starting at Munichs central station.

Tip
A special tip is the Museenlinie bus 100 which links the Hauptbahnhof Nord with the Ostbahnhof. The bus runs in both directions via following in the Card and City Pass included museums:

• Haus der Kunst (Art Gallery for modern and contemporary art)
• Neue Pinakothek - museum for European art
• Alte Pinakothek - art museum

Timetable
The U- and S-trains, as well as trams and buses arrive every 5-20 minutes. On weekdays, night buses are available throughout the night at 1-hour intervals, and on weekends, at 30-minute intervals.
Your Munich Card or Munich City Pass is also your local transport ticket for the entire duration that you booked. With your Card or City Pass, you can use all transportation operated by the MVV. You have the choice between a ticket of Munichs inner area or Munichs entire area. Your ticket in the Munich Card or Munich City Pass is valid throughout the duration that you booked, including the following day until 6 am.
1. How many days are you staying in Munich? – Choose which Munich Card or Munich City Pass to book: either the 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-Day.
2. How many people are in your party? – It’s worth getting a group card when your party comprises of more than 2 people. For children up to 14 years old, the Child Card is the most cost-efficient option.
3. Where would you like to travel? – You can choose between getting covered for travel within the inner area of Munich or for the entire area of the MVV . The entire area includes the airport and Erding, as well as the Neues Schloss Schleißheim and the Flugwerft of the Deutsches Museum. More Highlights in the entire area are the Starnberger See or Dachau Memorial.
