The chirping of birds and the scent of the rose blossoms in the garden fill the air. The greenhouses are homes to palm trees, orchids, cacti and colorful butterflies, which guarantee summer even during the cold winter months.
Hike through this green paradise and enjoy over 14,000 different plant species on over 21 hectares. Therefore, you should bring enough time for your visit to the Botanical Garden of Munich.
The botanical garden in Munich has existed since 1812. At first it was located between Stachus and the central station. Today, the garden bears the name “Alter Botanischer Garten”. However, because of the growing city development in Munich, a new botanical garden was built in Nymphenburg in 1914. It is also an important place of study for gardeners and scientists today.
A little insider tip for you: the botanical garden nestles on the northern flank of the Nymphenburg Palace Park and can be accessed via a hidden back entrance directly from there.
